Habitat for Humanity
|| What's in YOUR toolbox? Calling all handymen and aspiring apprentices ... Brotherhood has just the project for you! Baltimore Hebrew Congregation is participating in the Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity's Building on Faith: The Washington Street Project. Two homes will be built in this first ever inter-faith build in Baltimore involving Christian, Muslim, and Jewish Congregations. We will begin work on a community garden on April 10, 15, and 29th with the home building commencing in July or August. Click Here to volunteer or find out more information. Check the "community service" box, and put "Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity" in comments. Stay tuned for ways you can make a donation to the project.
Manna House, Inc.
Every year ... on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter mornings ... Brotherhood members, some with their families start their day by helping those in need. Manna House, Inc. "clients" line up outside in anticipation of the 8:00 AM door opening for a sumptuous breakfast consisting of eggs, hash browns, sausage, biscuit, orange juice and coffee. While the Towson Optimist Club cooks the meal, BHC Brotherhood serves it along with setting and re-setting tables, cleaning floors, and greeting the "clients". This two-hour activity brings us a sense of what's important in life, and ... especially during the holidays ... reminds us of how blessed and fortunate we are.
Manna House is also part beneficiary of the Brotherhood Charity Golf Classic and the Turkey Bowl. We are proud that two of our Brotherhood Past Presidents were also Presidents of Manna House, Inc.
